For Broadcasters

2 minutes

For too long, access to DAB digital radio has been limited by high costs and too few routes to market. West Sussex Digital aims to change that by opening up access to the digital airwaves across South West Sussex.

Our board brings together charity, community and commercial broadcasters from across West Sussex, with no single controlling shareholder or director. That structure matters. It means we are committed to offering a fair and transparent route onto DAB for broadcasters of all sizes.

If you already run a station and believe it would appeal to listeners in West Sussex, we would like to hear from you. If you have an idea for a new service, we would like to hear from you too. And if you are a charity, community group or local organisation interested in the potential of radio, we would be pleased to start that conversation.

You do not need to be an established broadcaster to talk to us. Our team has the technical and operational experience to help bring services to air in a way that is affordable, practical and compliant, and we will support applicants through the process.

Now that the licence has been awarded, work is under way to launch the multiplex as soon as possible. There are still important stages to complete, including planning, legal, spectrum coordination and regulatory requirements. Some of this work is complex and can take time, including the need to protect other radio services that share nearby frequencies. We will post updates on this website as key milestones are reached.

Before launch, we will publish a clear rate card setting out the cost of carriage on the multiplex. If demand exceeds capacity, we will also explain openly how available space will be allocated.

We’d still love to hear from you in the meantime. Contact us to get in touch to preregister your station or broadcast idea!
